Machinist III

Machinist 3Machinist 3 will be responsible for advanced machine setup, programming support, process optimization, and mentoring junior machinists. This team member brings a strong technical background, a commitment to quality, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in a high-mix, high-precision manufacturing environment.Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Position Type: Full-time (Occasional Overtime Required)Hours: 40 hrs Schedule: M-FReports to: KeyLink Production ManagerKey RolesUtilize advanced machinery and software through operating CNC & secondary machineryEnsure quality of parts and processWorking to standardMachine breakdown and setupTraining team members (Machinist 1 & Machinist 2)Guarantee home keeping needs are metAdvanced mechanical problem solvingMachine programmingKey CompetenciesWillingness to learn and follow directionsTeam player: committed to improving, learning, and collaborating with othersProblem-solving and continuous improvement mindsetAbility to collaborate and communicate effectively across departmentsActive prioritization of company mission, values, and cultureDuties and ResponsibilitiesLead complex setups and changeovers on Citizen Swiss CNC machines (e.g., L-Series, M-Series, A32, etc.)Edit and troubleshoot G-code programs to ensure optimal machine performance and part qualityDevelop and document setup sheets, tooling requirements, and best practices for repeatabilityOptimize cutting parameters and cycle times to maximize efficiency without compromising qualityWork closely with engineering and programming teams to launch new products and improve existing processesConduct first-article inspections and validate new setups against drawings and specificationsTrain, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Machinist I and II team membersCollaborate with Quality and Production teams to resolve machining or quality-related issuesEnsure machines are properly maintained and recommend tooling or equipment upgrades as neededMaintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure adherence to safety standardsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree preferredMinimum 57 years of hands-on experience with Citizen Swiss-style CNC lathesStrong proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and advanced inspection techniquesSolid understanding of G-code programming and CNC controls (Fanuc)Proven track record of successful process improvements, setup reduction, and troubleshootingExperience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical, aerospace, automotive) is highly desirableAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shopStrong communication and leadership skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Esprit)Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma principlesPrior supervisory or team lead experience is a plusMachine Safety Training (Machine Guarding Principals, OSHA 10Hr)Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing setting.
