Job Title: 2nd Shift Group Leader – Roll Forming
Location: Nappanee, Indiana
Shift: 2nd Shift (e.g., 1:30 PM – 12:30 AM, Monday - Thursday)
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Group Leader for Roll Forming oversees a team of operators and technicians to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production of roll-formed components. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of roll forming processes, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and maintain workflow continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate roll forming operators during 2nd shift; provide guidance and resolve issues promptly.
Production Oversight: Monitor machine setups, tooling changes, and production runs to meet daily output and quality targets.
Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements; perform spot checks and audits.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct shift safety talks, and maintain a hazard-free environment.
Training & Development: Coach team members on roll forming techniques, equipment operation, and continuous improvement practices.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machine or tooling issues; escalate complex problems to maintenance or engineering.
Communication: Document shift performance, downtime, and incidents; communicate effectively with other shift leaders and management.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, improve efficiency, and optimize material usage.
Requirements:
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in metal forming or manufacturing preferred.
2+ years of experience in roll forming or metal fabrication.
Proven leadership skills in a production environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of roll forming equipment.
Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
Lift up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs] as needed.
Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and moving machinery.
