What Drives Success
The Principal Safety Engineer is a senior individual contributor within Lennox's Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHSS) organization, operating at a level equivalent to a Senior Manager. This role serves as an enterprise technical leader responsible for designing, scaling, and advancing safety programs across Lennox's global operations.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate EHSS, this role requires significant influence across multi-site operations, engineering, and leadership teams. The Principal Safety Engineer translates complex risk into scalable, data-driven solutions that improve safety performance, strengthen compliance, and enable operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Program Design & Scaling
Lead development and deployment of enterprise-wide safety programs across multiple sites
Translate risk insights into standardized and scalable processes
Drive adoption and sustainment of programs across the organization
Technical Leadership & Influence
Serve as a senior technical authority for safety programs and risk reduction
Influence cross-functional teams to drive alignment and execution
Mentor EHSS and operations leaders to build capability
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive year-over-year safety performance
Standardize best practices and reduce variability across sites
Apply Lean and structured problem-solving methodologies
Advanced Risk Assessment & Engineering Solutions
Conduct complex safety and ergonomic risk assessments
Provide expertise in LOTO, machine safeguarding, PIT, and pedestrian safety
Partner with engineering to implement effective controls
Data Analytics & Insight Generation
Analyze safety data to identify trends and prioritize risk reduction
Develop dashboards and reporting tools for leadership
Ensure data integrity and effective system utilization
Audits, Compliance & Governance
Lead EHSS audits and drive corrective actions
Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations
Support the development of policies and standards
Problem Solving & Incident Prevention
Lead incident investigations using RCA, FMEA, and 8D methodologies
Identify systemic issues and implement preventive solutions
What We Are Looking For
Education
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field
Experience
10+ years of progressive multi-site EHSS experience
Experience designing and scaling enterprise-wide safety programs
Functional Skills
Deep knowledge of safety programs, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements
Expertise in industrial safety and high-risk operations
Leadership / Influence
Proven ability to influence without authority across multi-site environments
Strong mentoring and capability-building skills
Tools / Systems
Experience with EHSS systems and data analytics platforms
Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities
Travel
Ability to travel up to 40%, including international
What We Offer
Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $131,000 to $172,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company's applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.
