Job SummaryThe primary purpose of the Laundry Assistant, under the general supervision of the Housekeeping & Laundry Manager, is to perform the day-to-day laundry activities for the Environmental Services Department in accordance with our mission statement, current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Manager and/or the Director of Environmental Services, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. All duties will be performed with an emphasis on the value of providing quality customer service to all residents, family members, co-workers, volunteers, visitors, and other service professionals.Primary ResponsibilitiesLaundry Functions Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services and/or unit staff when performing laundry assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas. Follow assigned work assignments, utilizing proper time management techniques and during downtime perform limited housekeeping functions as assigned while utilizing proper time management techniques. Daily work assignments will include, but are not limited to: Collect, sort and weigh soiled linen, garments, etc. and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas; count and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. in accordance with established procedures; fold, count, stack, hang and distribute clean laundry to residents daily and/or as instructed. Assure work assignments areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored, at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes and at the end of the workday. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. Perform emergency cleaning as needed and as instructed. Keep supervisor informed of supply needs. Assist others with heavy lifting, minor cleaning needs, and repairs as directed. Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function of the position.Required QualificationsAbility to read, write, and comprehend EnglishMust be able to safely lift, push, pull, and carry up to a minimum of 50 lbs.Anything heavier than 50 lbs. must require assistance or assistive equipment for task to be performed safely.Desired Qualifications: Previous experience as a housekeeper in a long-term care facility or similar environment is preferred.NOTE: The rate of pay will be determined based on relevant employment experience.
