Job Description CNC Lathe Machinist:Role and ResponsibilitiesSummaryUnder minimal supervision, sets up and operates manual lathe machine in a skilled and precise manner, for the fabrication and production of quality customer parts.Essential Duties and Responsibilities(Include the following, however, others may apply, as determined by supervisors or upper management.)Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.Reads blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished partsSet up and operate any type of precision machine tool to make original parts, tools, mechanisms, and devicesDetermine material, parts, and equipment requiredLoad CNC program and adjust for basic level programming changesSet up and operate, in an efficient timely manner, machines, (lathes)Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.Support the initiatives and continuously strive to improve customer satisfaction through improved quality, reduction in waste, and improved productivity.Develop manufacturing processesUnderstand feeds, speeds, tooling, and operational sequences.Perform needed metrology inspections and report issuesIdentify best methods to make high-quality parts within the quoted cycle timeQualifications/skills:2+ years of CNC Machining experienceAbility to read and interpret drawings and blueprintsKnowledge of shop math, including geometry and conversions.Extensive knowledge of G and M codesDetailed knowledge of measuring techniques and best practicesAbility to work with a team· .QualificationsTo perform this job satisfactorily, an employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have general knowledge of1) estimating time for production2) metals and the quality and machinability and uses of metals, alloys and other materials3) machine and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance4) design techniques, tools and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawings5) Must have own basic measuring tools: i.e. calipers, at least 0-6 micrometer set, dial & test indicators & their accessories, depth micrometer, id micrometer, radius gages, wire set, and any other basic measuring tools needed for the manufacturing of turned parts.Education/Experience· 2 years minimum of related experience· High school diploma or equivalentLanguage skillsEffectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.Mathematical skillsAbility to perform advanced mathematical computations. Ability to apply geometry concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning abilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Physical DemandsAbility to move or transfer products with overhead cranes. Ability to lift 50 lbs. as necessary. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, and walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, the will be small debris and detritus in the work area, oil, coolant, and small amounts of non-toxic fumes given from them as parts are machined.
