DESCRIPTION:
As a Level 2 Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining, securing, and improving client IT environments. This is a hands-on, execution-focused position ideal for someone with intermediate to advanced technical experience who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working across multiple environments.
You will support day-to-day operations, handle escalations, execute security and remediation initiatives, and assist with proactive standardization efforts—both remotely and on-site. While this role does not own architectural standards or long-term strategy, it is essential to executing those standards consistently and effectively.
If you thrive in environments where expectations are clear, security is taken seriously, and your technical judgment is valued, you’ll be successful here.
Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled on-site visits and remote work to support client environments, execute remediation, and deliver customer service aligned with ET&T standards.
Respond to service requests and escalations – including, but not limited to, the troubleshooting of workstation, server, network, and connectivity issues - resolving issues within SLAs and escalating when appropriate.
Serve as an escalation point for Level 1 technicians and execute delegated tasks from senior engineers and project teams.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure (switches and wireless access points) up to an intermediate level.
Manage and monitor Microsoft 365 security hygiene, including executing Microsoft Secure Score remediation tasks.
Assist with security incident response activities, including malware remediation, endpoint isolation, and execution of predefined incident response steps.
Execute vulnerability scans and perform/coordinate remediation of identified findings within defined scope.
Install, configure, troubleshoot and audit firewall configurations, including firmware updates and basic rule validation under approved standards.
Provide basic support for virtualization platforms, including VM-level troubleshooting and validation of backups and snapshots.
Execute endpoint imaging, deployment, and replacement activities
Maintain accurate hardware and asset inventory, validating deployed devices against monitoring and security tools.
Provide end-user guidance and training on supported systems and applications as needed.
Support industry-specific and common line-of-business applications, including QuickBooks and similar platforms.
Coordinate with third-party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues on behalf of ET&T clients, maintaining clear communication and documentation throughout the process.
Requirements:
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams when timelines or scope shift.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot independently, leverage documentation and known solutions, and escalate appropriately when issues exceed Level 2 scope.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear ticket updates, visit summaries, and technical notes.
Consistent attention to detail, particularly when following standards, executing remediation tasks, and documenting work performed.
Professional demeanor and reliability when working on-site at client locations.
Reliable transportation and ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required for field work.
Ability to pass a background check.
Technical Skills
Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments (2016+), including core services, authentication, and file services in single and multi-site environments.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online administration, security & access controls, Intune deployment, and advanced endpoint troubleshooting.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware.
Intermediate to advanced experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls; experience with SonicWall preferred.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot remote access technologies, including VPN and Remote Desktop.
Solid understanding of identity and access management, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file share permissions, group-based access, and directory hygiene.
Experience executing security response and remediation, including malware, phishing, ransomware, vulnerability remediation, and patch management.
Confident use of RMM and PSA platforms (e.g., ConnectWise RMM, Automate, Datto RMM).
Experience using documentation platforms such as IT Glue or Passportal to record configurations and work performed.
Working knowledge of Powershell for troubleshooting or automation is a plus.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys execution, problem-solving, and working within defined standards. It is not a fit for someone seeking a purely architectural, leadership, or research-focused position.
