This position is responsible for the year-round maintenance, landscaping, and upkeep of all district grounds and athletic fields. Additionally, this role serves as the primary on-site facilities support during home athletic, academic, and community events, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely.This is a year-round position (260 days, 8 hours per day) and requires flexible scheduling for evening / weekend events.Benefits include full family health insurance, as well as sick and personal leave.This position is available for immediate start.The position is considered open until filled.Essential Requirements:High School Diploma or GED/or equivalent experienceGrounds experience preferredSuccessful completion of background checkMust maintain at all times during employment an unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record that meets requirements of Board policyJob Tasks:Assist as directed with the following items:Grounds and Activities WorkOperate and maintain grounds equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles)Snow removal and ice control during winter months (shovel, salt sidewalks, etc.)Assist with seasonal landscaping (planting flowers, trimming bushes, removing leaves)Set up and tear down outdoor / indoor areas for school events or athletic activitiesClean and maintain outdoor signage and lighting around campusAssist with fence, gate, and exterior structure repairs as neededWater grass and landscaping manually when neededMonitor irrigation systems and report or repair malfunctionsMaintain athletic fields (dragging baseball fields, lining fields, repairing turf)Inspect and maintain playgrounds and outdoor facilities for safety and cleanlinessPerform minor painting/touch-ups on exterior surfacesPerform regular grounds inspections to identify hazards or areas needing attentionRemain present during home events to monitor facilities, manage lighting/HVAC adjustments, and troubleshoot any immediate maintenance or custodial issues.Maintenance WorkPerform general maintenance and repair of district buildings and facilities, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks.Maintain school grounds: mow lawns, trim edges, remove weeds, rake leaves, and pick up trash or debris.Conduct routine inspections of buildings, systems, and equipment to identify and address issues promptly.Maintain and repair HVAC systems, lighting, and other mechanical systems (basic troubleshooting).Assist with snow and ice removal from walkways, driveways, and parking lots during winter months.Move and set up furniture, classroom equipment, and materials for events or relocations.Maintain and repair playground equipment, fencing, gates, and other outdoor fixtures.Perform preventive maintenance according to schedules and district standards.Monitor and operate irrigation and sprinkler systems; make adjustments and minor repairs as needed.Spray or remove weeds from sidewalks, landscaping beds, and fence lines.Maintain exterior areas including entrances, sidewalks, and school signage for cleanliness and safety.Assist with delivery and distribution of supplies, equipment, or mail across district buildings.Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance issues in a timely manner.Support custodial staff as needed, especially during high-demand periods or absences.Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; request replenishment as necessary.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.Custodial WorkSweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors to maintain cleanliness.Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms and restroom supplies.Gather and dispose of trash and recycling materials from designated areas.Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces for clear visibility and appearance.Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, walls, and equipment regularly.Clean and polish furniture and fixtures as needed.Shampoo or steam-clean carpets according to a regular schedule or as needed.Move and arrange heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.Notify supervisors of the need for major repairs or additions to building systems.Assist with setting up and cleaning up after events or meetings.Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in good working order.Follow all safety and health regulations and procedures.Other Responsibilities:Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Facilities.FLSA Exempt Status: Non-exempt.Essential Functions:The essential functions of the Custodian position include: (1) regular, on-time, dependable in-person attendance on the job;
