Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not availableThis is a supervisory position; a one-year supervisory probationary period is requiredThis position is Centrally Managed; PCS is authorizedThis position is open to current Department of War employees QualificationsIn order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 0101 Series.BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:Degree: Behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position.ORFour years of appropriate experience that demonstrate that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.ORCombination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include 1) Providing knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to social or behavioral science. 2) Applying knowledge of financial, budget, resource management practices and principles, and analytical and evaluative methods and techniques. 3) Administering knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. 4) Organizing and utilizing community resources within the program framework to augment the program to meet installation objectives. 5) Planning, organizing, and directing the functions and mentoring, motivating, and appraising the staff of an organization. 6) Analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
