Community is the cornerstone of the Y, and we connect active, engaged New Yorkers to build stronger communities.Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Teen & Youth Sports, Arts, and Movement Director (YSAM) will lead the management and implementation of all teen and youth sports, arts, and movement programs, including enrichment programs. The role includes staff management, program development, budgeting, outreach, recruitment, and community partnerships such as local schools.The impact of teen programs will be carefully measured and monitored for continuous improvement. Teen programs occur during the school year (school‐day, after‐school, Saturday evenings) and during the summer (Saturday evenings). The Director will also supervise all teen travel, including overnight and multi‐day trips, and manage the entire program portfolio: Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, Saturday Night Lights, Teen Center, and all Youth Sports, Arts, and Movement programs.Key ResponsibilitiesRecruit, select, develop, train, and supervise staff.Implement and support a diverse teen programming team with robust data tracking and maximize funded contracts.Manage administrative data entry in various systems, including Youth Service.NET, AS400, participant paperwork, program surveys, and all other requirements outlined by City agencies and the YMCA's Teen Standards.Ensure the health, safety, and well‐being of children by providing close supervision of all activities.Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, workshops, and special events with support from part‐time Teen Counselors and YSAM instructors.Facilitate teen programming directly when a position is vacant, and support YSAM programming when necessary.Ensure programming focuses on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.Lead marketing and distribution of program information; compile program statistics.Develop, implement, and monitor program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.Meet or exceed all contract / program requirements.Plan and create new, innovative youth and family programs that align with branch priorities and the strategic plan.Collaborate with branch staff to develop new programs.Continuously improve program quality.Establish and maintain links with service providers in various settings, including other CBOs and schools.Attend designated meetings, cabinets, training sessions, and special events related to teen and YSAM programming.Act as liaison to YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues and YSAM concerns.Support the Youth & Family Director with staff management and scheduling.Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.Become a certified trainer in at least one youth area and lead training events.Create and support an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of youth and teens.Maintain positive rapport with guardians / families of the youth & teens served.Perform additional responsibilities as required by operational needs.Desired Skills & ExperienceBachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required; College degree in Education or Social Work is desired.Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with teens/youth and planning activities.Minimum of one (1) year of experience facilitating youth sports, arts, or movement programming.One (1) – two (2) years supervising community‐based youth programs and experience developing programs preferred.Teen staff must be 21 years of age or older.Knowledge of youth program development and administration, supervision, and contract management.General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Knowledge of AS400, budgeting, and public policy preferred.CPR/First Aid, RTE trainer preferred.Benefits The YMCA of Greater New York offers a variety of benefits, including retirement benefits, medical benefits, paid time off, free YMCA membership, and more.
