These duties consistently require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment and require knowledge necessary to analyze, interpret, and assist in decision making. This position is focused in the Tax Accounting area and prepares both Life and Property & Casualty (P&C) tax functions.Essential Job FunctionsAssists with monthly, quarterly, and annual processing of accounting information for related reporting requirementsPrepares journal entries and reconciles various accountsPrepares various statistical reports required by management throughout the yearCommunicates effectively with internal and external customersDepartment SpecificWorks closely with the Tax Accounting team to ensure all tax deposits and filings remain in compliance with both federal and state regulatory authoritiesMaintains and reconciles information reporting tax systems, tax masters, and filings according to federal and state tax requirementsDetermines and submits nonemployee withholding tax payments and filings according to federal and state tax requirementsReconciles interest accounts and nonemployee withholding tax deposit accountsPrepares monthly, quarterly, and annual statement tax provision calculations and related disclosures prepared in accordance with NAIC’s Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP’s)Prepares and submits federal and state income tax returns, estimated payments, and filings in accordance with Internal Revenue Service Code and state regulationsPrepares and submits premium tax returns, estimated payments, and filings in all states and jurisdictionsAssists with research of regulatory and tax topicsPerforms other duties as assignedEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredTypically requires 1-3 years accounting experience Certifications & LicensesProfessional accounting or insurance designationsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBasic ability to:Communicate effectively in both oral and written formDefine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionAnalyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlinesAnalyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting dataRead, analyze, and interpret accounting and technical journals, financial reports and legal documentsBasic Skill InSituational analysis and judgment in making critical decisionsFiling, bookkeeping, recording, and computational skillsBasic Knowledge OfGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Demonstrated Knowledge OfMicrosoft Office softwareApplicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.Salary Range$54,000 - $70,000 per yearThis range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position.
