Stepdown Registered Nurse | North Olmsted, Ohio

Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. This contract opportunity offers a dynamic setting where registered nurses provide critical care to diverse adult and geriatric populations recovering from cardiac, vascular, and medical-surgical procedures.Key Responsibilities:Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and continuously evaluate outcomes for patients in a 33-bed stepdown unit.Manage complex clinical interventions including medication administration, telemetry monitoring, and care of patients with PICCs, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and advanced respiratory support.Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and provide education to patients and families.Ensure patient safety and advocate for quality care practices following established protocols and guidelines.Maintain expertise in handling cardiac drips, PCA pumps, and manage patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma.Utilize electronic health records (EPIC) efficiently for accurate documentation and telemetry verification.Qualifications and Experience:Current valid RN license in the state or compact nursing licensure.Minimum two years of RN experience with acute care exposure, preferably with PCU/stepdown or cardiac telemetry experience.Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIH Stroke Certification and PCCN/CCRN preferred.Dysrhythmia exam is required for this role (study guide provided).Strong clinical judgment with experience managing high-acuity patients.Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Schedule & Contract Details:Contract duration: 13 to 16 weeks.12-hour PM shifts, alternating every other weekend and holiday.Telemetry nurse ratio approximately 1:4-6 depending on acuity.About North Olmsted, OH:Situated in the vibrant northeastern region of Ohio, North Olmsted offers a welcoming community with a blend of suburban comfort and easy access to urban amenities.
