SQL Database Administrator
The Database Administrator integrates change requests into in‑house software, monitors and tunes database performance, and ensures high availability and data integrity. They also manage enterprise backups, Windows Server administration, virtualization, and technical troubleshooting.Key Responsibilities:Respond to IT incident and problem tickets within defined SLAInstall and maintain SQL Server databases and clusters, ensuring proper configuration for performance and securityProvision, configure, and manage virtual machines to host database workloads, ensuring efficient resource allocationAdminister Windows Server environments, including Active Directory integration, group policies, and OS-level security hardeningMonitor database and server performance, identify issues, and apply tuning techniques to maintain efficiencyEstablish and manage backup schedules and disaster recovery plans for secure data protectionEnforce access controls, grant user privileges, and ensure compliance with security policies and best practicesManage patching and lifecycle updates for database engines and Windows Server operating systemsAnalyze query performance using SQL Profiler, Data Performance Analyzer, Query Store, and optimize queries and indexesMaintain multi-tiered production storage systems, monitor disk space, resources, and forecast future storage needsQualifications:5+ years supporting SQL database environments3+ years managing Windows Server environments2+ years managing virtualization platformsWorking knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database design and architectureExperience in SQL query optimization, index management, and execution plan analysisProficiency in Windows Server administration (Roles, Features, PowerShell scripting)Strong skills in database backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategiesExperience with SQL Server clustering, Always On availability groups, and mirroringFamiliarity with SQL monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Data Performance Analyzer, and Query StoreExperience with enterprise-level storage array management and backup technologiesPreferred Skills:Experience working in hybrid cloud/on-prem environmentExperience with Docker and KubernetesExperience with LinuxExperience with monitoring tools like LogicMonitor and Solar Winds Database Performance AnalyzerBenefits:BridgeView offers health benefits with national coverage for Medical, Dental, and Vision plans, effective on the first of the month from your date of hire.
