Job Description Hit Apply below to send your application for consideration Ensure that your CV is up to date, and that you have read the job specs first.About This RoleCCDC seeks a Teacher for a SC First Steps 4K class who is a highly self-motivated individual willing to work hard as part of a team to prepare four-year-olds to enter kindergarten. The position requires an active and outgoing, kind, patient and committed person who will participate in every important aspect of early childhood development. This person will demonstrate, through a commitment to doing the job with integrity, an understanding of the important role an early childhood teacher plays in the development of a child’s brain and overall health and well-being. The position requires a solutions-oriented perspective. This highly active and mobile position supports the daily operations of the Center. This person will demonstrate a high-level of professionalism and a willingness to support other staff in the CCDC School Family in meeting the standards set forth by SC First Steps, DSS, DHEC, CACFP, and the ABC Quality rating scale. This position collaborates with other teachers in providing a positive, active, and motivated standard of professionalism and excellence in the education and care of the children and families served. and colleaguesDevelop a working knowledge and experience with ABC Quality Intentional Teaching Tools Be able to ensure CCDC compliance with all ABC guidelines Demonstrate and utilize knowledge of basic child development to assess individual student development and plan instruction for appropriate learning objectivesTrain, mentor, and supervise Teacher Assistant and/or Teacher Assistant-Floater in all aspects of job performance and execution of DSS and DHEC requirements, ABC guidelines, and CCDC Policies and Procedures while coordinating all classroom activities to accomplish instructional goals, classroom management, and assessmentPlan and implement age-appropriate opportunities specifically chosen to promote development in the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical domainsDemonstrate comprehension of “indicators” of high-quality care and education in relation to ABC Intentional Teaching Tools through consistent use of intentional practices in meeting individual students’ developmental needsBe willing and able to substitute in any classroom and follow job descriptions of other teachersBe knowledgeable of different classroom routines and proceduresUtilize different modalities to communicate information concerning individual student development, progress, and/or behavior Communicate information concerning individual student development and/or behavior professionally and maintain confidentialityEffectively utilize iCare via the classroom iPad to communicate with parents regarding student needs and progress, sharing daily activities, photos and using CD practicesCommunicate with all staff, parents, children, and Board members in a positive mannerResponsibilities:Follow all CCDC Employee policies and procedures; request Supervisor/Director clarification as neededFollow and support all CCDC Parent policies and procedures, requesting Director support as necessarySubstitute in classrooms and provide breaks for teachers when necessary if/when assigned by Supervisor/Program Director/Executive DirectorAssist in completing/maintaining student attendance and meal records, student/teacher ABC ratios, and DSS tracking sheetsEffectively utilize iCare via iPad to communicate with parents by sharing daily activities, photos, and progress updatesEffectively utilize CCDC Outlook email and SLACK to communicate with CCDC administration and other members of CCDC Staff/School FamilyMaintain an active/mobile role in all locations and settings; always remain present and engaged Follow classroom schedule, expectations, and lesson plans, implementing age-appropriate curriculum as assigned (The Creative Curriculum for Infants & Toddlers/Preschool, Conscious Discipline, SCPITC, and Handwriting Without Tears)Collaborate and cooperate with colleagues to foster positive contributions to the CCDC School Family to promote a healthy systemActively participate in meal service (family style meals when possible); guide student behavior in cafeteria or classroom and during clean-up from meals or snacksActively supervise Outdoor Learning Spaces activity, monitor for safety, and assist children with social interactions using Conscious Discipline principles Assist fellow staff to process laundry—wash/dry/fold as neededEnsure your classroom has ample supplies for daily operationsMaintain cleanliness of classroom, screened-in porch, and outdoor learning spaces while guiding children to take care of equipment, toys, and learning materialsFollow opening procedures and/or closing procedures as requiredAttend and participate in scheduled staff meetings and required training or teacher workdaysCooperate in a professional manner with supervisors including the Executive Director, Program Director, Supervisor and the SC First Steps Regional Coordinator. Attend all CCDC mandatory trainings for Conscious Discipline (CD), Creative Curriculum, SCPITC, and Handwriting Without Tears (HWOT) as assignedRequirementsAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or early childhood education (ECE)2-3 years of experience in a Licensed child-care facilityPediatric CPR and First Aid CertificationCompletion of college course ECD 101 Experience with SC First Steps, The Creative Curriculum for Infants & Toddlers/Preschool; SC Program for Infant & Toddler Care (SCPITC); Conscious Discipline (CD); Handwriting Without Tears (HWOT)Experience working in a play-based environmentA minimum of an Associate Degree in early childhood development or related field.
