The Reliability Engineer in Training will gain a thorough understanding of the operation and maintenance requirements of the CAP through job assignment, mentoring, and training. Individuals in this position will work regularly with experienced craftsmen, engineers and other maintenance personnel to learn about the equipment, systems and procedures in place across the CAP. The Reliability EIT is a strategic role whose purpose is to help identify trends and prevent system failures through the application of maintenance metrics, key performance indicators and predictive and condition-based maintenance programs. Provides reliability engineering services as a member of an asset management team responsible for the reliability, availability and maintenance of pumping plants, water conveyance systems and facilities for the CAP. In collaboration with others, provides support to internal customers through the following means: field troubleshooting and diagnostic testing, identification of failures through root-cause failure analysis, develop recommendations for long-term capital expenditures, modification to equipment maintenance plans and further refinement of the major asset condition assessment program. Electrical – Assessment, evaluation and engineering support activities for large synchronous motors and generators, transformers, backup power generator sets, excitation systems, circuit breakers, switchgear, relays, UPS systems, facilities, cable systems and other auxiliary equipment. Includes high, medium and low voltage systems. Some of the specific duties include: 1. Support the development and administration of an integrated maintenance program for all CAP facilities that incorporates preventive/predictive maintenance (ppm) industry best practices. A. Develop, review, and modify maintenance procedures, guidelines and schedules for electrical, mechanical, and other equipment and structures. Write and adjust ppm procedures and frequencies as necessary. Provide standardization in ppm procedures and frequencies. B. Utilize industry best practices (Reliability-Centered Maintenance, Condition-Based Monitoring, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Key Performance Indicators, etc.) to provide continuous improvement and optimum equipment performance, safety and reliability at minimum costs. C. Assist in the administration of predictive maintenance programs such as infrared thermography, vibration analysis, lube and transformer oil analysis, and electrical equipment testing. D. Establish Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) documents and records for equipment history review. Analyzes and recommends improvements. 2. Provide technical support of all CAP maintenance personnel responsible for managing related maintenance efforts on CAP facilities. 3. Consult and communicate with CAP management to recommend and specify equipment replacements and modifications for obsolete and worn-out equipment. In this position you will be exposed to protective relays, asset condition health elements such as motor and transformer testing, as well as major maintenance activities such as stator rewinds. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Must effectively manage multiple projects at various phases of the project life cycle. Must possess and be able to demonstrate good communication and professional interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, coordinate resources and work through competing priorities. Possess a working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Project, and standard MS Office applications. Ability to work well under pressure of time constraints and commitments. Required Certifications or Licenses: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. This is a safety-sensitive position and requires physical testing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous work or internship experience related to this position. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
