Posting Summary
The Department of Health Informatics invites applications for a full-time, Non-Tenure Teaching Track, Assistant Professor position with a specialization in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Deep Learning. We seek a dynamic educator and researcher who will contribute to the department's growing emphasis on cutting-edge AI technologies in healthcare, including the newly launched AI in Healthcare track in the MS in Health Informatics program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach graduate-level courses in Health Informatics, with a focus on AI, LLMs, and Deep Learning.
Develop and maintain an active research agenda in generative AI applications in healthcare.
Mentor graduate students and supervise doctoral research projects.
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to advance interdisciplinary research.
Contribute to curriculum development, particularly in the AI in Healthcare track.
Participate in Departmental, School, and University service.
Participate in Annual Performance Evaluations and Workload Distribution discussions for the program.
Perform other related duties as assigned and as permitted by workload requirements.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
PhD in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field
Exceptional candidates with an MS in Computer Science and demonstrated expertise in generative AI will also be considered.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying AI techniques to healthcare or biomedical domains.
Prior teaching experience at the graduate level.
Industry experience or collaborations in AI-driven healthcare solutions.
Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in AI for health.
Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment
Sedentary work with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. Requires close visual acuity as in working with computers, e.g. extensive reading and typing. Work is performed in a typical office environment.
