Laboratory Associate
Overview
PBD Laboratories is a scientific research and laboratory services organization supporting biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in their drug development programs. We are seeking a motivated Lab Scientist Intern to join our team in Davis, California. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a growing biotechnology environment while working alongside experienced scientists and contributing to ongoing laboratory and research projects.
Duties
Perform routine laboratory procedures and experiments according to established protocols and SOPs
Prepare solutions, reagents, and laboratory materials for experiments
Handle, label, store, and process biological samples and laboratory materials
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments following appropriate training
Accurately record experimental procedures, observations, results, and other laboratory data
Assist scientists with experimental setup, sample preparation, data collection, and other laboratory activities
Follow appropriate procedures for laboratory waste disposal and contamination control
Collaborate with scientists and other team members to support ongoing research and client projects
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Life Sciences or a related field
Must be able to work full time (approximately 40 hours/week) on-site in Davis
2-3 years of hands-on laboratory experience
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of laboratory and chemical safety protocols
Ability to follow laboratory safety rules, standard operating procedures, and established protocols
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time effectively, and complete assigned tasks reliably and on schedule
Desired Qualifications
Previous laboratory experience through coursework, academic research, internship, or industry experience
Experience with basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, centrifugation, solution preparation, or sample handling
Experience working with biological samples or laboratory reagents
Familiarity with laboratory documentation and data management
Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, contract research, microbiology, or analytical laboratory settings
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
