Controls Engineer
Job Summary:
Responsible for creating and maintaining custom electrical machinery designs to meet customer needs. Supports all phases of design through manufacturing including installation, warranty, and post warranty phases. Creates PLC programs and electrical drawings. Interfaces with suppliers as needed.
Responsibilities:
Develops electrical schematic drawings and specifications for custom equipment using Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley RSlogix/Studio 5000 and AutoCAD Electrical
Ability to generate complete machine concepts with little direction
Designs all aspects of custom equipment systems including automation controls, Sequence of Operations, PLC/HMI programming, commissioning, and time & Motion studies with little direction
Manages electrical upgrades and changes for equipment and facilities
Supports design, development, and review of division processes (SOP)
Drives change process with active feedback from customers, assemblers, and field service personnel
Participates in continuous improvement projects related to cost reduction, workflow, product development and manufacturing methods
Monitors project cost vs budget and execution vs timeline milestones
Participates in customer equipment diagnostics and repair
Develops equipment documentation including manuals and recall letters
Support warranty process and resolution with vendors
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Experience: 3+ years experience in Engineering related to the design and manufacture of custom equipment.
Specific Skills/requirements:
Experience designing and manufacturing custom equipment required.
Experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley preferred.
Experience with standard wiring methods.
Experience with CE/CSA requirements.
Experience with Time & Motion studies.
Ability to write sequence of operations for controls engineering and automation required.
