We are mission-driven, extraordinary, and committed to protecting space-based assets and enabling space exploration.About the RoleThe Linux Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux servers and systems. This role requires a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, scripting, and network protocols to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions.About YouOur mission is driven by an unyielding commitment to advancing space-based technology in service of our customers and safeguarding national security. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, servers, and related hardware.Monitor system performance and ensure reliability and availability.Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations.Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.Automate routine tasks using shell scripts and other scripting languages.Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies.Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.Collaborate with other IT team members to support infrastructure projects.Work closely with the Application team and Development team to provide any required hardware support.Build prototype systems for demo and testing.Provide platform infrastructure support.Provide general business application support.Maintain detailed inventory of Business Area automation.Maintain documentation of network server configurations, application licensing agreements, and other third-party software installed.Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.Perform on-call after-hours support as part of the rotation.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.10+ years proven experience as a Linux Administrator or similar role.In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).Familiarity with network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE) are a plus.Preferred SkillsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).Knowledge of Puppet configuration management.Experience with build-machines and software development support.Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server.Experience with Red Hat IdM.Experience with Artifactory and related repositories (Python, Conda).Understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Singularity).Familiarity with database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL).Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN).Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS).Familiarity with cloud storage solutions (AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage).Experience working in the aerospace industry and Mission Control.Elevate Your CareerAt Sierra Space, we are committed to your personal and professional development.
