Overview As a Thermal Sciences Associate/Senior Associate, you apply core engineering methods to solve interdisciplinary problems in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and combustion. You’ll grow technical depth while serving clients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. You will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and distill findings into clear proposals and reports. ResponsibilitiesPlan experimental investigations and execute laboratory testsResearch published literatureConduct field inspectionsPerform engineering calculations and data analysisPrepare proposals and technical reports, and present findings to clientsManage projects and meet deadlinesCommunicate with team members and clientsGather information and convey technical conclusions to diverse audiences Key requirementsPh.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similarLegal authorization to work in the United States (no immigration sponsorship)Experience in development of experimental design, apparatus construction, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysisStrong hands-on laboratory and field work capabilityProven leadership and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsWillingness to travel (>15% inc. short-notice regional, out-of-state, and some international)Willingness to work from the Los Angeles officeAbility to tackle varied engineering problems across domainsInterest in developing a client baseleadershipclear communicationclient-focused collaborationfluid mechanicsheat transferthermodynamics
