NYBG Job DescriptionTitleReports toContinuing Education Landscape Design InstructorAcademic ManagerPosition Summary:The New York Botanical Garden’s Continuing Education Department seeks knowledgeable, enthusiastic instructors to teach in the Landscape Design Certificate Program with a focus on design development, planting design, and Adobe Photoshop tools and techniques.Specific Duties & Responsibilities:Facilitate existing landscape design curriculum in coordination with NYBG’s Program Coordinators and ManagersTeach 1-2 courses (in-person and hybrid) per session or more, as availableIdentify any necessary materials and work with NYBG administration to procure them, staying within budget and submitting receipts as neededDesign appropriate assessments and give feedback to evaluate student learning when appropriateMaintain clear communication with NYBG administration & studentsUse NYBG-approved software (online portal, Zoom, Canvas) to take attendance and enter gradesQualifications:3-5 years of professional experience in landscape design or landscape architecture is requiredA strong understanding of the content area is requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skills are requiredTeaching experience is preferredBasic familiarity with classroom technology is preferredPhysical Demands & Work Environment:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, present and facilitate in a classroom setting for three hours at a time. This involves standing, walking to monitor student work, and the ability to utilize basic classroom technology.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Baseline Work Schedule:Classes that run weekly for 8 weeks, 3 hours a week.Payrate: $60 p/hr
