CNC Prototyping Machinist
Meta Reality Labs supports its goal of connecting the world by building various products, including Reality Labs devices. Many of these products are custom designed for our requirements and integrate advanced technologies. We are seeking a Computer Numerical Control machinist and prototyper to join our state-of-the-art mechanical prototyping facility. This role will be responsible for programming, machining, working with engineers to debug designs, assisting with test fixture development, assembly work, and so on. Our products utilize a variety of materials (from plastics to hard metals) and processes, offering continuous challenges to grow your skills. The prototyping facility includes advanced 5-axis and 3-axis CNC machine tools, laser cutting, 5-axis waterjet cutting, and manual machine tools. The CNC Machinist is responsible for the safe setup, operation, and maintenance of this equipment, including tooling, fixture specification and procurement. The machinist will work closely with the mechanical engineering team to solve design and manufacturing issues. We move fast and are looking for a person who is excited to find the fastest, most efficient ways to go from CAD models to finished parts in real materials.CNC Prototyping Machinist Responsibilities:CAM programming and operation of all CNC and manual machining equipmentCNC Machining of complex parts in metal and plasticInteract with design engineers on part functionality, advise on the part suitability for machiningClear communication of timelines and expectations to other groups within MetaImprove the systems and tools we rely on via continuous improvementResponsible for part quality and inspectionEnsuring that machines are properly maintained, that stock material supplies are adequate and that the shop is operated in a safe and workmanlike mannerMinimum Qualifications:At least 5 relevant years of experience in a prototyping environment with advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine toolsExperience running 5-axis milling equipmentSkills in Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software and CNC programming (Autodesk Fusion)Skills in Computer-Aided Design software (Autodesk Fusion, Siemens NX, Solidworks) and fixture designSkilled in prototyping of complex electro-mechanical assemblies and familiar with typical shop toolsComputer skills and knowledge to pick-up new software quickly and efficiently.
