Assembly Optimization Intern

Position Summary We are seeking an Assembly Optimization Intern to support the improvement of assembly processes, workstation efficiency, and production performance. This internship offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, working alongside engineering and operations teams to analyze workflows, reduce waste, and improve productivity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in manufacturing, process improvement, industrial engineering, or operations management. Key Responsibilities Observe and document current assembly processes and workflows. Conduct time studies and collect production data to identify inefficiencies. Assist in analyzing assembly line performance, cycle times, and bottlenecks. Support the development and implementation of process improvements to increase productivity and quality. Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and visual aids. Assist with workstation layout improvements and ergonomic assessments. Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers to identify opportunities for optimization. Track key performance metrics and prepare reports on improvement projects. Support efforts to reduce defects, rework, downtime, and material waste. Qualifications Required Currently pursuing a degree or have relevant experience in: Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering Operations Management Supply Chain Management Related technical field Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis. Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma principles. Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, or time studies. Knowledge of manufacturing or assembly operations. Experience with data visualization or reporting tools.
