SSM Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer:Community Description:About SLUCare Physician Group and SSM Health:SLUCare Physician Group, the academic practice of Saint Louis University School of Medicine, is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Adult Psychiatrist to join its academic psychiatry faculty. This position is primarily outpatient-based with opportunities for teaching, clinical supervision, and academic involvement within a collaborative, mission-driven department.Outpatient Clinic Schedule:New Patient Appointments: 60 minutesFollow-Up Appointments: 30 minutesClinic Setting: Faculty outpatient psychiatry clinic Multidisciplinary team environment (residents, fellows, psychologists, social work)Patient Population: Adult psychiatry (18+) Mix of mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and complex psychiatric presentationsClinical Effort Distribution:Outpatient Psychiatry: 100%Inpatient Psychiatry: 0% (no dedicated inpatient service)(Note: Occasional inpatient consults may occur while on call, but there is no routine inpatient attending service.)Call Schedule:Rotating call: One night every 2–3 weeks Call rotation includes approximately 15 faculty membersFacilities Covered: Saint Louis University Hospital (SLUH)Call Description:Home calls with phone triage and clinical decision makingPsychiatric consultations and urgent evaluations as neededResident support and supervision during call coverageCall Intensity & Expectations:Call volume is generally manageable and infrequentMost calls involve:Phone consultationsGuidance to residentsOccasional in-person evaluation if clinically necessaryThe service is well supported by residents and hospital staffWeekend Call Expectations:While on weekend call, faculty can expect:Minimal on-site timeTypically, 1–3 hours total per day, depending on consult volumeMany weekends may require no in-person presence at allAcademic Responsibilities:Teaching and supervision of psychiatry residents and medical studentsParticipation in academic conferences, grand rounds, and educational activitiesOpportunities for scholarly activity and academic advancementFaculty appointment at Saint Louis University School of Medicine (rank commensurate with experience)Qualifications:MD or DOBoard Certified or Board Eligible in PsychiatryEligible for Missouri medical licensureCommitment to academic medicine and educationCompensation & Benefits:Competitive academic salaryComprehensive benefits package including:Health, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan with employer contributionCME allowancePaid malpractice insuranceGenerous paid time offSLUCare Physician Group and SSM Health have partnered for decades to provide exceptional medical services to patients at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, and, most recently SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.SLUCare's more than 600 faculty, other academic medical professionals, and staff are now a dedicated academic physician division within SSM Health and continue their work as researchers and educators.
