Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS)
JOB TITLE: OUTREACH & EDUCATION COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
JOB PURPOSE: The coordinator will organize and facilitate prevention, outreach and sexual violence educational services to the community. When necessary, provide support services to survivors of primary and secondary victims of sexual violence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively seek opportunities for outreach and awareness in Grant and Hidalgo County
Represent SASS at community events to provide information
Complete necessary report requirements documenting services rendered and activities performed, including data entry, and tracking deliverables
Review, acquire, and/or create public information/awareness materials for tabling and events, and maintain working knowledge of all literature distributed
Update agency information and materials as necessary to adhere to current best practices and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts (ex: pamphlets, website, teaching tools, etc.)
Assist (as necessary) with advocate trainings, board and staff training, fundraising events, and monthly advocate meetings
Attend meetings, conferences, agency functions, fundraisers, events, and other job-related events as required
Develop and coordinate awareness activities, particularly during Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April)
Remain current with news, new legislation, reporting laws, child abuse and sexual violence research in general
Coordinate outreach events and maintain community visibility to raise awareness of the center and its activities and services
Prepare and present information relevant to audience
Represent the center in a positive and professional manner
Maintain the website, Instagram, and Facebook pages, and seek additional opportunities for media presence (radio, newspaper, etc.)
Create, maintain, and distribute quarterly electronic newsletter
Provide crisis intervention services to include answering hotline calls, hospital accompaniment.
Ability to work independently to grow and expand the outreach program
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
Report regularly to the Executive Director and Director of Programs and otherwise to ensure that they are fully informed of all program activities
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other related field or related experience.
Attend and complete SASS 40-hour sexual assault advocacy training within 6 months of hire
Excellent public speaking skills
Ability to effectively present sensitive topic materials to a wide range of audiences
Must have access to reliable, insured vehicle, as well as a valid driver’s license
Must pass a background check
Understanding of child abuse and sexual assault, and commitment to ending sexual violence
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have the ability to establish rapport with diverse audiences, and be sensitive to diverse cultural groups
Familiarity with community resources
Strong planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings, early mornings and weekends as needed
Excellent computer skills necessary (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, Canva, Constant Contact)
Bilingual preferred.
This position is 40 hours a week. Requires occasional evening and weekend hours. Pay based on experience & education.
