**All hours and locations subject to modification** Central Kitchen - 6 hours (.750 FTE) work hours: 7:00am - 1:30pm Hyde, Kennedy, Miller, Cupertino, and Lawson Middle Schools - 4 hours (.500 FTE) work hours: 9:30am - 1:30pm Stocklmeir Elementary School - 3.5 hours (.438 FTE) work hours: 9:45am - 1:15pm Dilworth, Faria, Lincoln, and Muir Elementary School - 2 hours (.250 FTE) work hours: 11:00am - 1:00pm

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Under department supervision, perform routine food service activities related to the setup of serving areas and the preparation and serving of food in quantity at an assigned district site(s); perform cashiering duties in the sale of food items; assist in other food preparation and catering duties as directed; maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition; provide exceptional service to students and staff; and perform related work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare food service facilities for the preparation and serving of food according to procedures.
Assist in the preparation of vegetables, salads, sandwiches, fruits, and other foods for cooking and consumption.
Assist in maintaining kitchen facilities and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition; including, but not limited to, preparation counters, sinks, food containers, utensils, food racks, carts, and storerooms; and deep clean all food service equipment.
Operate a dishwasher or hand wash dishes/pots, and was trays, plates, utensils, and other preparation and serving equipment.
Set up and stock food preparation and service lines.
Lift and carry moderately heavy food items and supplies, with assistance as necessary.
Inspect food items, supplies, and equipment to ensure quality and safety standards.
Monitor and record temperatures of food to assure that safety and quality standards are met.
Serve appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality of food prepared.
Uses computerized Point of Sale (POS) system to record meals, review student records, and collect payments.
Clean and organize work area; sorts and disposes of trash, food waste, and recycling.
Attend meetings and complete trainings for the purpose of rules, regulations, and food safety.
Assist in laundering of kitchen linens.
Assist in accepting deliveries of food and supplies.
Assist in maintaining inventory and orders as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
Some experience in quantity food preparation and kitchen maintenance is desired but not required.
Knowledge of basic food service, equipment, utensils, measurements, and portion control.
Knowledge of methods for cleaning and preparing vegetables, fruits, and other foods.
Knowledge of methods of cleaning and maintaining food services areas, utensils, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic math, counting, and record-keeping techniques.
Ability to prepare and set up food for service to students and staff according to established procedures.
Ability to operate various food service equipment appliances.
Ability to maintain food service equipment and facilities in clean and sanitary condition.
Ability to operate a variety of technology devices, including but not limited to a computer and assigned software programs.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships and communication with others.
Ability to provide a positive climate of customer service in all interactions and communications.
Ability to be organized, meet schedules and timelines, and maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
Ability to actively participate in staff training, meetings, work groups, and support the goals and objectives of the District and the Department.
Ability to lift moderately heavy objects according to safety regulations.
Ability to follow and ensure compliance with health and sanitation requirements.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to pass and maintain a Class III District physical examination.
Possession and maintenance of a valid California Driver License is desirable.
