Medical Biller - Workers Comp
Job Description
Occupational health medical facility is seeking a full-time medical billing specialist. Prefer qualified candidate to have prior experience with submission of electronic billing, insurance appeals and denials, CPT/ICD10 codes, and payment posting. Knowledge with worker's comp insurance billing and collections rules also a plus.Candidate must be detailed-oriented, dependable, goal-oriented, willingness to assist others as necessary and with ability to work independently. Good customer service skills are a must.Medical Biller Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure patient information is accurate and completeRequest any missing patient informationReview referrals and authorizationsConfirm patient benefits and insuranceFollow all regulations and guidelines set by Medicare, state programs, and HMO/PPOTransfer insurance claims and billing data to billing softwareCreate both paper and electronic copies of documentationDevelop and maintain a tracking system of incoming and late paymentsMonitor and date late paymentsInitiate late payment notices to relevant partiesRespond to questions and complaints from patients or insurance companiesFollow-up on late or missed payment noticesMonitor and resolve financial discrepanciesArrange payment plans and timelines for paymentsFile and maintain organized documentation of all billing and recordFollow set billing processes and proceduresUpdate and review all accounts to keep records of payments up-to-dateWork with personal information and maintain patient confidentialityMedical Biller Requirements and QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in accounting, health care administration, finance, business, or related field preferredTwo (2) years' previous experience as a medical biller or in a related healthcare administrative positionAble to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficientlySelf-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervisionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of billing software a plusStrong customer service skills and comfortable answering both patient and insurance company questionsAble to analyze problems and strategize for better solutionsMonday - Friday, 40 hours per weekSalary: Commensurate with ExperienceExperience:medical coding: 1 year (Preferred)billing: 1 year (Preferred)Company DescriptionFast-paced medical facility provides medical and physical therapy services to 3,000+ employers in Central Illinois.Company DescriptionFast-paced medical facility provides medical and physical therapy services to 3,000+ employers in Central Illinois.
