The Autonomy, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning (AAIM) Lab accelerates problem-solving and undertakes development challenges for various government customers and partners, employing existing and to-be-developed AI/ML tools. This position offers hands-on experience building production AI/ML systems for defense and government applications, working with cutting-edge technologies including large language models, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices. The ideal candidate will assist with the development of AI/ML applications and infrastructure that support our customers.ResponsibilitiesAI/ML DevelopmentImplement and optimize machine learning algorithms and workflowsDevelop and integrate large language model applicationsBuild data processing pipelines for various document types and data sourcesExperiment with embedding models and vector search techniquesEvaluate model performance and improve system accuracy through testing and iterationSoftware EngineeringDevelop backend APIs and services using modern Python frameworksDesign and implement database integrations and data storage solutionsBuild scalable, maintainable code following best practicesWrite unit tests and contribute to system documentationParticipate in code reviews and collaborative development processesCloud Infrastructure & DeploymentDeploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred)Work with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelinesAssist with monitoring, logging, and system optimizationSupport production deployments and troubleshootingUser Interface DevelopmentContribute to web-based user interfaces using modern frontend frameworksBuild intuitive components for AI/ML application interactionsIntegrate frontend applications with backend APIsImplement responsive designs and user experience improvementsThis position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth.RequirementsMust be able to work in an office environment at a desk and computerMay travel ~10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events.
