Water Taxi Captain

Building and Land Technology (BLT) is now hiring a Water Taxi Captain for the 2026 season! We are seeking an outgoing, OUPV Licensed (6-pack), Limited OUPV, or Master 25T Captain for the operation and transportation of our visitors, guests and both commercial and residential tenants, across the West Branch channel in Stamford Harbor, aboard the Harbor Point Water Taxi (Pontoon Vessel).This is a part time and seasonal position. The Water Taxi runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Thursday afternoon - Sunday (with additional holidays). Multiple shifts available.Duties and Responsibilities of the Water Taxi Captain:Operate uninspected vessel of less than 100 GRT (gross register tons), equipped with propulsion machinery, carrying six or fewer passengersPerform daily operational inspection(s); including and not limited to; vessel cleanliness, engine performance, oil level(s), navigational lights, horn, fuel, battery, hull, lines, fenders, additional lighting, Bimini frame & coverFuel vessel, add oil, change battery, and lightbulbs, if necessaryPerform daily safety inspection(s); including and not limited to; All safety equipment, such as life vest(s), Life ring(s), Lifeline/Buoy, VHF Radio, navigational lights, first-aid equipment, capable of operating and inspecting fire extinguisher(s), ladder deployment/retrieval, anchor deployment and settingManagement of daily reports; including trips, maintenance, fuel, passenger activity, other statistical demands, and incidentsMaintain vessel in excellent condition, inspect and cover vessel at end of each shiftMaintain a clean, pleasant, and safe atmosphere for all including team membersGreeting all visitors, guests and tenants with exceptional care and providing five-star customer service; including answering any questions and providing local knowledge and information, as requestedRequirements of the Water Taxi Captain:Active/Current OUPV License (6-pack), Limited OUPV, or (Higher) Master 25TCompliance with DOT-approved drug and alcohol testing program, including pre-hire screening and periodic checks, is required.Ability to swim is required for safety purposes.Candidate must be able to lift 40lbsVHF radio knowledge/EtiquetteCapacity to maintain poise in a high impact, dynamic work environmentAbility to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours (if needed) to support all programs and eventsTraining and Certification in First Aid, CPR, Vessel Fire Safety Knowledge, and "Man overboard" sequence a plus (Not Required)BLT is an equal opportunity employer.PM21Powered by JazzHR
