Job Title: Systems Engineer Location: Mill Creek, Washington – Remote Hybrid Available Job Type: Full-time A Day in the Life: As a Senior Systems Engineer, your day is dynamic and varied, involving a mix of hands-on hardware testing, software benchmarking, and project collaboration. You might start your day by benchmarking a new piece of hardware or an SSD, using tools like Phoronix, fio, Spec, and stress-ng to evaluate its performance. Results are meticulously (well we mean we try our best but we’re only human) documented and shared on our Engineering SharePoint site and open benchmarking platforms. Your afternoon could involve working on Proof of Concepts (POCs) or specific customer projects. This might require delving into new technologies, collaborating closely with stakeholders, and ensuring comprehensive documentation and understanding of the technology involved. Communication is key to the success of these projects, whether you’re working solo or as part of a team. Responsibilities: Hardware Familiarity: Work with enterprise server hardware (e.g., Supermicro, Dell, AIC, etc.) Understand technologies such as PCIe, SAS, SATA, NVMe, Ethernet, etc. Knowledge of form factors like SFP, SFP+, SFP28, SFP56, fibre LC & SC, memory, backplanes, and various cabling types (e.g., SAS cables, DAC, AOC, power cables C13, C14, NEMA 5, L6-30) Familiarity with motherboard slots and plugs (M.2, SATA, SATA DOM) and add-on cards (HBA, LSI, Broadcom, Areca, etc.) RAID and Networking: Understand RAID configurations (5, 6, 7, 10, 60, 70). Experience with networking components like NICs, switches, routers, etc. Familiarity with various network topologies such as leaf and spine, fat tree, etc. Knowledge of network operating systems such as Cisco IOS, Junos, Sonic, Cumulus, ONOS Technical Terms and Technologies: Familiarity with any Please note that this position will be dedicated to working with customers operating under U.S. export control rules (including ITAR).
