Nursing Assistant Position at Southdale HospitalFairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant at Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 48 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more.Southdale Heart Center is a lively and challenging 29 bed cardiac telemetry unit that cares for patients with a variety of diagnosis. This is a fast paced unit with a complex patient population and many learning opportunities.Job ResponsibilitiesThe Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include:Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feedingSkin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creamsOral hygieneSpecimen collection/testingPosition/ambulatingChanging linensPromptly answers call lightsAssists the nurse in monitoring patient condition.Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturationPlaces patient on/off monitors or equipmentReports unusual findings to the RN in a timely mannerAssists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.Orients patient and their family to the environmentAssures the patient's belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and dischargeTransports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies.Assures patients get to appointments on timeUses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulationCleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment.Orders and stocks suppliesAccurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form.Performs other tasks as needed.Required QualificationsLicense/Certification/RegistrationBasic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.AND ONE or more of the following:Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.OrSix months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)OrCurrent enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.OrCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
