Operations and Facilities Supervisor
The Operations and Facilities Supervisor will be an integral member of the Operations team, assisting with overseeing daily facility operations, with a primary focus on supervising the Grounds and Shipping and Receiving teams. This role also supports construction projects and renovation efforts and is ideal for a hands-on leader who can manage staff, coordinate daily operations, and work closely with contractors and internal team members to maintain safe, efficient, and well-functioning facilities. In addition, this position serves as a key resource and point of support in the absence of the Head, Building & Grounds.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct supervision, leadership, and daily direction to the Grounds Crew and Shipping and Receiving teamsCoordinate staffing, scheduling, work assignments, and training for Grounds and Shipping and Receiving personnelOversee Shipping and Receiving operations, including deliveries, shipments, material handling, and dock safetyEnsure Grounds operations are completed efficiently and meet facility standards and safety requirementsServe as the primary point of contact for Grounds and Shipping and Receiving operational issuesAssist with scheduling, coordination, and oversight of construction and renovation projectsObtain, review, and coordinate quotes from contractors and vendors for facility repairs and projectsCoordinate and oversee facility repairs, including window replacement, roof repairs, and other building maintenance needsCollaborate with Facilities, Construction Services, Labor Share and other departments to plan and complete work efficientlyEnforce all safety policies, procedures, and building regulations per EH&S teamDistinguishing CharacteristicsAbility to:Mentor team members and promote optimal processes and systems.Work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.Strong communication skills while communicating with all members of the team as well as internal customers and external contractors.Deliver high-level customer service.Qualifications & Experience5+ years of experience supervising facilities, grounds, or receiving operationsStrong supervisory, leadership, and team management skillsWorking knowledge of landscaping maintenance, including water features, shipping and receiving operations, and facility repairs.Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and obtaining project quotesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentValid driver’s licenseEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent (required)Associate degree, trade certification, or equivalent experience (preferred)To ApplySubmit the requested documents to careers@stowers.org or to Administration Department, Stowers Institute for Medical Research, 1000 E 50th Street, Kansas City, MO 64110.Requested Documents:Cover LetterCurrent Resume
