We're looking for talented teammates who’ll help us maintain strong teamwork and are passionate about driving results.In this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Staff Test Engineer, Driving Behaviors.You WillDevelop metrics and models to evaluate and enhance the performance, safety and scalability of our self driving systemEvaluate new models or methods to assess their performance and applicability to problemsFind new ways to gather the required data needed to improve our metrics and modelsCommunicate benefits and limitations of new models and metrics to partner teamsIntegrate and deploy metrics and models on fleet-wide dataYou Have5+ years of experience in Software Engineering for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other complex hardware/software systemsExperience testing such systems at all levels from unit tests to comprehensive end-to-end test campaigns.Solid understanding of physics, geometry, and dynamicsProficiency in C++ and PythonAbility to learn and utilize new frameworks quickly, employing AI tools or otherwiseExperience training new applications on existing ML architectures and improving existing applicationsWe Prefer8+ years industry experienceProficiency in SQLExperience building and testing autonomous systemsExperience using LLMs and VLMs in production environmentsThe expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.Salary Range$175,000—$215,000 USD
