Position Purpose:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes within a forging environment. This role focuses on process optimization, tooling and equipment support, cost reduction, quality improvement, and collaboration across engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable operations.
Essential Functions:
Support and improve forging and secondary manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Develop, document, and maintain standard work, process flows, work instructions, and routings.
Provide day-to-day manufacturing support to production, troubleshooting process, tooling, and equipment issues.
Participate in new product introductions, including process development, capacity planning, and launch support.
Collaborate with tooling, maintenance, and engineering teams on die design, process improvements, and equipment upgrades.
Analyze production data to identify opportunities for efficiency, scrap reduction, and cost savings.
Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Ensure processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with capital projects, equipment justification, installation, and validation.
Train and support operators and supervisors on new or revised processes.
Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a manufacturing or forging environment will be considered.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in a manufacturing environment; forging or metal forming experience preferred.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and support shop floor operations.
Physical Demands:
Ability to spend time on the production floor, including standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments. Manufacturing areas may include exposure to noise, heat, dust, moving equipment, and industrial materials.
