Shift Supervisor

PURPOSE:The Shift Supervisor is the leader of the Shift Organization and has the responsibility for the safe, environmentally sound, PSM compliant, reliable and economic operations of the refinery. All operators in the facility have direct accountability to the Shift Supervisor on site. The Shift Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager.KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Drives Health, Safety and Environmental complianceConducts routine crew safety and communication meetingsEnsures housekeeping standards/assignments are metReviews and executes area safety and environmental auditsConducts initial investigations of near misses, incidents and spillsCompletes daily shift report in a timely mannerCommunicates operating plans/strategies to shift organization through night ordersIdentifies and develops short and long term capital projectsMaintains staffing for shift employees, calling out employees following the CBA and other proceduresMaintains daily attendance records for employees and provides to Human ResourcesParticipates in HAZOP (hazardous operations) reviews, discipline meetings, and other meetings and training as requiredEnsures alignment with Area Managers on all strategy and personnel issuesMaintains expertise and acts as first responder to critical issues in the area, ensuring that management is aware as appropriateMonitors field operations, ensuring that operators have the tools they need and are accomplishing their tasks as directedServes as an example, follows the Safety Pledge, Cardinal Rules and other policies and proceduresMentors employees in their shift duties e.g. policies and procedures knowledge, emergency procedures, process optimization, expense control, etc.Participates in performance and coaching activities for individual employees on shift.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:7-10+ Years Refinery Operations ExperiencePrefer previous shift supervision in a step-up roleHS Diploma, GED or Degree in Related FieldCOMPETENCIES:Good communication, training, mentoring skills requiredSound leadership skills requiredMust exhibit effective team skillsCapable of working with all levels of the organizationMust be able to work through multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing effectivelyDemonstration of Calumet Values- Safety, Environment & Social Responsibility, Teamwork, Ownership, Passion for Customers, and Excellence
