ANTICIPATED (2026-27 School Year)SECONDARY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:POSITION: 1.0 FTE - The Akron Central School District is seeking applicants for one (1)secondary special education teachers (Probationary Appointment)Required Qualifications Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, resources and classroom management Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral managementtechniques. Excellent communication skills and ability to create a positive student-centered learningenvironment. Utilization of student assessments and data processes to identify programmatic needs, as wellas target support for individual students. Collaborate with faculty and grade level teams to design, modify, and implement effectivelesson (unit) plans following an ICT model. Knowledge of the principles and methods for instruction at the Secondary level. Demonstrate ability to design and implement lessons to meet the learning needs of studentswith varying levels of ability. Strong knowledge of IEP development and instructional best NYS fingerprint clearance and required professional development workshop completion.Position Requirements 1.0 FTE Secondary Special Education Teacher Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction using a variety of instructional models. Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA, NYS Part 200 regulations, and IEP development andimplementation. Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral managementtechniques.
