Paraprofessional English LearnerReports to: PrincipalGeneral Summary: The paraprofessional for ML will provide supplemental services to English Learners in the process of learning academic English in a school settingEssential Functions:Supplement services for ML students to provide English language development under the direct supervision of the ML teacher.Supplement services for ML students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the EL or classroom teacher.Assist students in adapting to a new culture.Assist ML students with school work to increase academic language.Attend ML Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development.Participates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal.Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)Qualifications:Fluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirableHigh School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro AssessmentAbility to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacherSelf-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities.Length of Position: 180 days (for the school year)Position Type: Non-ExemptThese statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
