Transportation DMV Agent 1 The Transportation DMV Agent 1 will report to the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles Fairmont Regional Office. Under general supervision, performs full-performance level public contact work involving the processing, recording, and issuance of drivers' license, vehicle registration, vehicle titles, and related documents. Work involves knowledge, interpretation, and the application of motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures. Other duties as required.Answers inquiries from customers in person in a DMV regional office regarding motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures.Assist customers in the processing of driver licenses, identification cards, motor vehicle license and registrations and title work. Explains forms and fees associated with the processing.Reviews documentation to ensure information is complete and accurate.Will be trained and required to administer various types of knowledge/skills tests for driver's license issuance.Enters data into the computer to access previous data and update new file information as appropriate.Assesses fees and processes cashier transactions balances cash drawer at the end of business day.Mails forms per customer requests and/or inquiries, composing correspondence to explain documents.Responsible for issuing and maintaining assigned inventory items.Knowledge of federal guidelines, motor vehicle law, rules, and regulationsAbility to interpret rules and regulationsExcellent communication and presentation skillsKnowledge of basic computer skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the publicAbility to comprehend and effectively carry out oral and/or written directionsAbility to learn and process multiple types of transactions in the DMV system.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and process a high volume of customers when necessaryREQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION: Graduation from standard high school or the equivalent. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One year of full time or equivalent part time paid experience in bookkeeping, cashiering, or related public contact work. Substitution: College credit from an accredited college or university, business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained. Work schedules are assigned and rotated on a regular basis. Overtime Hours may be required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must consent to fingerprinting and a criminal background investigation.
