M&P Engineer - Composites

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.We are seeking anM&P Engineer - Composites to lead the testing and strength allowable development of composite materials into our maritime platforms. You will be responsible for developing lightweight, high-performance composite structures optimized for maritime environments and aligned with mission-critical DoD performance and survivability requirements.ResponsibilitiesLead and support composite material allowables development programs (per CMH-17, FAA, ABS, or other relevant guidelines)Define, execute, and analyze test programs to generate A- and B-basis allowablesDevelop and implement material and process specifications for composite fabrics, adhesives, core materials, and associated processesProvide technical support for composite fabrication, inspection, and process controlInterface with test labs and suppliers to ensure quality and compliance with aerospace standardsAuthor test plans and roadmaps for characterization of new material systems and/or processesAuthor material and process specifications that are consistent with industry standards and/or internally developed requirementsDocument and maintain material property databases, ensuring traceability and alignment with regulatory requirementsSupport root cause analysis and corrective action for process and material non-conformancesLead or support continuous improvement activities that inform design-for-cost and design-for-manufacturing activitiesCollaborate with certification teams to provide technical justification and documentation for material allowables used in structural substantiationQualificationsBachelor's degree or greater in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field2+ years of experience in aerospace and/or marine composite materials and processes (allowables development experience preferred)Familiarity with CMH-17, MIL-HDBK-17, ABS certification requirements, and other aerospace/marine composite standardsHands-on experience with composite manufacturing methods (e.g., autoclave, out-of-autoclave, infusion, bonding)Strong understanding of material testing standards (ASTM, SACMA, etc.) for compositesProficiency in analyzing material test data and statistical methods for allowables developmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare clear technical documentationPhysical DemandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerOccasional standing and walking within the officeManual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipmentVisual acuity to read screens, documents, and reportsOccasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office suppliesLifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)Benefits:Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of servicesSaronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependentsDental and Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine dental check-ups, orthodontics, and vision careSaronic pays 100% of the premium under the basic plan for employees and 80% for dependentsTime Off: Generous PTO and HolidaysParental Leave: Paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parentsCompetitive Salary: Industry-standard salaries with opportunities for performance-based bonusesRetirement Plan: 401(k) planStock Options: Equity options to give employees a stake in the company's successLife and Disability Insurance: Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coveragePet Insurance: Discounted pet insurance options including 24/7 Telehealth helplineAdditional Perks: Free lunch benefit and unlimited free drinks and snacks in the officeThis role requires access to export-controlled information or items that require "U.S. Person" status.
