Senior Java Developer

Title: Full Stack Engineer Location: RemoteDuration: Initial 6 months plus extensionsWork Requirements: USC, Green Card holderJob DescriptionThe role requires deep expertise in Java/J2EE development, including building APIs and microservices using REST/SOAP, along with strong proficiency in XML, OpenAPI, Maven, ANT, and modern frameworks. Candidates must have advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and web technologies, with hands-on experience in testing, debugging, and performance optimization across scalable distributed systems. Preferred skills include experience with WebSphere deployments, automation tools (e.g., Ansible), and familiarity with mainframe technologies such as COBOL, CICS, and z/OS, as well as exposure to financial services application development. Description: Design, develop, and enhance complex software applications supporting a mission critical, time sensitive initiative focused on enhancing applications that integrate distributed applications with client’s Core Banking platform. Serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for translating business and platform requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable solutions across the full software development lifecycle. Operate with minimal supervision while exercising strong technical judgment. Collaborate with Core Banking, testing, middleware, and platform teams to manage dependencies, mitigate risk, and meet aggressive delivery timelines.Responsibilities:​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Design, develop, and optimize high-quality software applications using various advanced programming languages and frameworks that meet business requirementsCollaborate with stakeholders and team members to gather and analyze requirements, translate requirements into technical specifications, propose innovative solutions, and ensure timely task completionWrite clean, scalable, and maintainable code that adheres to industry best practices and organizational coding standardsImplement data structures and algorithms efficiently, optimizing code for performance, scalability, and user experienceIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve errors in application functionConduct team code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and learn from colleagues' expertise to maintain a high-quality codebaseLead small efforts, while building strong working relationships with stakeholders, team members, and subject matter expertsContribute to generating and adhering to application and software development policies, standards, and proceduresContinuously learn from individual and team experiences, fostering growth and improvement through collaboration and continuous feedback Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, or experience5-7 years of experience in application or software developmentAdvanced proficiency in software development principles, methodologies (including Agile), pipelines, and version control systems (Git and GitHub for source code control)Expertise in programming languages / standards / build tools including Java, XML, Open API, Maven, and ANT, with strong knowledge of modern frameworks and librariesDeep understanding of web technologies and technical applications, capable of designing and implementing scalable solutionsStrong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address complex technical issues efficientlyAdvanced written and verbal communication skills for articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience using incident tracking, project management, and change control software tooling Expertise in data structures, algorithms, and applying them in the design and build of applications for optimal performance and scalabilityDemonstrated Experience with:• Object-oriented programming languages with specific emphasis on Java / J2EE• Building JEE web framework APIs including servlets• Developing web services, microservices, and APIs using REST and SOAP architecture patterns• REST principles and implementation of both client and server-side implementations• Testing & Debugging: Write and maintain unit and integration tests; identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects.• Continuous Integration & Delivery practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines)• Development using web APIs including raw Apache HTTP Client, JAX-WS, JAX-RS and similar Desired Qualifications• Experience deploying EAR and WAR components on WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (ND) 8.x and/or 9.x.
