Web Server Administrator-Analyst Pay Rate 70.00 to 75.00 per hour Remote Position Summary SMX is seeking a Web Server Administrator-Analyst to support the Defender Services Management Information System for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. The selected candidate will support a secure, on-premises, Java/Jakarta web application environment that includes Apache Tomcat, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Informix database connectivity, system monitoring, patch support, vulnerability remediation, production troubleshooting, and operational documentation. DSMIS is described as a web-based Java/Jakarta application deployed on Apache Tomcat with an Informix database, running on virtual servers using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Amendment 0003 confirms the system remains on premises with no cloud-based solution acceptable at this time. Area Responsibilities Web / Application Server Administration Support Apache Tomcat application server operations, configuration, deployment support, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring. Linux Environment Support Support application-layer activities on Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and coordinate with AO infrastructure teams for OS-level support, patching, and maintenance. Production O&M Monitor DSMIS components, interfaces, logs, and application processes to support system availability and operational continuity. Patch Support Assist with validation of patches, framework/library updates, application dependencies, and post-patch verification. Vulnerability Remediation Support remediation of findings from tools such as Black Duck and Client Fortify. Amendment 0003 updated references from SonaType to Black Duck. Release / Deployment Support Support release activities, planned maintenance windows, outage notifications, rollback coordination, and post-deployment checks. Troubleshooting Analyze application errors, web server issues, user-impacting incidents, performance concerns, and system defects. Log Monitoring Review Tomcat logs, application logs, system logs, and Splunk/NLS-related logging outputs where applicable. Security Compliance Follow Judiciary Information Security Framework requirements and protect sensitive Defender Program data. Documentation Create and maintain SOPs, operational checklists, troubleshooting guides, deployment notes, and system support documentation. Team Collaboration Work with the Project Manager Technical Lead, Java/Jakarta and Database Developer, Business Analyst-Tester, COR, and AO technical stakeholders.
