Grade Checker

Job Summary Gonzalez Asphalt, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Grade Checker to support grading and earthwork operations by verifying grades, elevations, and slopes to ensure work is completed according to project plans and specifications. This role works closely with the Grading Foreman, operators, and survey crews. Key Responsibilities Check and verify grades, elevations, and slopes using survey and grading tools Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grade stakes Communicate grade adjustments to equipment operators and foremen Assist in maintaining accuracy and quality of grading operations Identify and report discrepancies or potential issues in the field Ensure work complies with project requirements and tolerances Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Qualifications Previous experience in grading, surveying, or construction preferred Knowledge of grading tools (laser levels, GPS systems, levels, grade rods) Ability to read construction plans and grade stakes Strong attention to detail and communication skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Valid driver’s license required Preferred Skills Experience with GPS machine control systems Familiarity with earthwork and paving operations Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) plan Opportunities for growth within the company
