1st Shift - Monday - Friday @ 5am - 1:30pm; Possible weekend work, if needed
The Transportation Coordinator supports Perricone Farms' transportation and logistics operations by coordinating daily routing, dispatch, carrier communication, and compliance activities. This role ensures the accurate and timely delivery of customer orders, assists with fleet documentation and maintenance scheduling, and helps maintain compliance with DOT and food safety regulations.
The Transportation Coordinator serves as a key liaison between drivers, warehouse teams, customer service, and third-party carriers to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
Primary Objective: Provide operational support for transportation and logistics functions with a focus on:
Scheduling and routing daily deliveries
Coordinating with drivers, warehouse, and customer service teams
Maintaining compliance documentation and records
Supporting food safety and quality standards
Transportation Operations & Coordination:
Prepare and maintain daily delivery schedules and route plans
Dispatch and communicate instructions to Class A drivers and third-party carriers
Monitor delivery status and proactively address delays or exceptions
Coordinate yard flow, trailer staging, and freezer logistics with warehouse staff
Assist with shipment planning, routing, and order documentation
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure adherence to PPE and workplace safety protocols
Support compliance with DOT, FMCSA, CHP, ARB, OSHA, and FDA regulations
Maintain accurate, organized records to support audits and inspections
Communication & Support:
Serve as a primary point of contact between transportation, warehouse, and customer service teams
Communicate delivery issues and escalate concerns as needed
Assist in resolving customer and carrier-related delivery issues
Participate in safety and logistics meetings
Fleet & Reporting Support:
Track fleet maintenance schedules and assist with preventative maintenance planning
Monitor transportation KPIs, including on-time delivery and order accuracy
Prepare daily and weekly reports for leadership
Assist with gathering freight rate and carrier data
Food Safety Responsibilities:
Comply with FDA, SQF, HACCP, GMP, Non-GMO, and Organic standards
Support food safety audits and inspections
Follow all food safety and quality protocols
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred
12 years of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or warehouse operations
Experience in food, beverage, or cold-chain logistics preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of DOT and transportation regulations
Experience with ERP/WMS systems preferred (NetSuite and RFSmart a plus)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Ability to work in cold, noisy environments
Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanning equipment
Work Environment:
Refrigerated warehouse and loading dock setting
Exposure to cold temperatures, noise, and moving equipment
Occasional outdoor work (yard and trailer checks)
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
