Material Flow & Traceability Operator

*Reports To: *Quality & Operational Excellence Manager
*Position Purpose*
The Material Flow & Traceability Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper flow, traceability, handling, and control of materials throughout the manufacturing process. The position performs operational audits, verifies inventory accuracy and FIFO compliance, identifies process deviations, documents findings, initiates containment when required, and escalates issues to the appropriate department owners for resolution. The role also operates a forklift to support material movement, scrap removal, waste handling, inventory activities, and containment while maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant operation.
*Primary Responsibilities*
*1. Operational Audits & Material Traceability (65%) *
* Perform scheduled operational audits throughout production, warehouse, shipping, receiving and raw material yards.
* Verify FIFO compliance and material flow.
* Verify traceability, heat number identification and material labeling.
* Verify blocked/nonconforming material is properly identified and contained.
* Verify scrap identification, segregation and disposition.
* Identify abnormalities, document findings and communicate them immediately.
* Escalate findings to the responsible department owner.
* Follow up action plans until closure.
* Support inventory accuracy and material traceability.
* Report recurring issues, trends and operational risks to Quality leadership.
*2. Material Handling & Waste Management (35%) *
* Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
* Move blocked product and scrap as required.
* Remove scrap generated from all production areas and transport it to designated scrap containers.
* Perform scheduled weekly movement and disposal of waste materials.
* Support inventory counts and material relocations.
* Support containment activities.
* Maintain organized warehouse and yard storage areas.
*Required Qualifications *
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Valid Forklift Certification (required).
* Experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing environment.
* Basic computer skills.
* Ability to work independently across multiple production areas.

*Position Statement *
This position serves as the 'eyes and ears' of the Quality Department on the production floor. It is responsible for identifying operational risks, communicating findings, supporting containment, and ensuring the appropriate departments are accountable for resolving identified issues. The role identifies, escalates and follows up—it does not own the technical solution.
