Staff AccountantAbout the OrganizationOur client is a St. Louis–based nonprofit with a 150+ year history of serving children and families through community-based programs. Their mission has remained constant, and their commitment to building strong operations to support that mission is what drives this hire.The RoleOur client is adding a Staff Accountant to strengthen their accounting function. This is a newly created position that reports directly to the CFO and will have regular exposure to senior leadership, including the CEO.This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. You will own journal entries, reconciliations, and the integrity of the general ledger as part of the monthly close cycle. The right person is detail-driven, self-directed, and takes pride in producing clean, supportable work.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentationPerform bank and cash reconciliationsMaintain balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules tied to the GLSupport the monthly close process, including adherence to timelines and checklistsAssist with audit preparation, including PBC requests and schedulesEnsure accuracy and completeness of financial data in the general ledgerRequired QualificationsExperience in preparing and posting journal entries3–5 years of accounting experience, including general ledger and month-end close supportStrong understanding of debits and creditsExperience in preparing and posting journal entriesExperience preparing or supporting balance sheet reconciliationsDetail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy and organizationAbility to work independently and follow through on assigned tasksPreferred (Not Required)Experience in a nonprofit environmentExperience supporting auditsFamiliarity with Sage Intacct or a similar ERPWhat They’re Looking ForThis role is a fit if you’re a disciplined accountant who is comfortable in the details—someone who works well in the GL, reconciles accounts with confidence, and consistently meets deadlines.
