The Medical Assistant is responsible for coordination of care between the patient and medical provider, while helping support the clinical team with effective and efficient delivery of health care services.Education And ExperienceMinimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited schoolNational CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification requiredBLS certification requiredRequired Skills / AbilitiesMaintain current general medical knowledge.Ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and guest.Ability to take initiative and handle various task simultaneouslyKnowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, and protocolsKnowledge of data bases (ex: EMR systems)Bilingual in English/Spanish preferredFamiliar with medication names and usageMedical terminologyAt least two years of experience in a physician’s officeExcellent interpersonal skillsDetailed orientedAbility to multitaskCompassion for patientsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no direct reportsEssential Job FunctionsAssist the medical provider in the evaluation and treatment of clients to include patient intake, taking and recording of vital signs, diagnostic procedures, and lab work.Assist with medication refills when neededFacilitates efficient patient flow and room turnoverKeeps work area neat, tidy, and well supplied.Stocks exam room with supplies dailyPerforms data entry task for reporting purposesResponds to phone calls in timely mannerPerforms practice specific duties in accordance with recommended guidelinesParticipation in training opportunities to enhance knowledge such as conferences, and continuing education/in-service eventsUtilizes data systems to assist with chart prep prior to patients appointmentDevelops and maintains working knowledge of all equipment needed to perform dutiesAbility to understand and administer vaccines and immunizations to pediatric and/or adult patients.Effective communication with other healthcare entities, departments, and guestManage and maintain medical recordsSchedule appointmentsProvide appropriate education to patient and/or patient’s familyAbility to help in other offices when needed(may include travel)Helps maintain medical supply inventoryAssist in training new medical assistants to the organization in the standard working procedures of HopeHealthOther duties as assignedPhysical Requirements: Must have direct client contact. Must possess the ability to communicate in the dominant language of the geographic region. Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently. Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits is required. Must have manual dexterity to key in data; utilize computer, grab, grip, hold, tear, cut, sort, and reach.
