This role is ideal for a passionate builder and mentor—someone who remains deeply engaged in coding, system design, and emerging technologies while guiding developers toward best practices and high-quality outcomes. Success requires active participation in development, code reviews, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making alongside leadership responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesHands-On Engineering & Architecture.Actively design, develop, and maintain production-grade software (backend and frontend).Contribute directly to complex feature development and system enhancements.Lead architectural decisions for microservices-based systems.Guide evolution of cloud-native applications in Azure (AKS, APIM, CosmosDB)Enforce clean architecture, coding standards, and performance best practicesTechnical Leadership & MentorshipLead and mentor a team of 6 resources across Software Development and DevOpsProvide hands-on coaching through code reviews and pair programmingPromote engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvementEstablish secure coding practices and strong testing disciplineDelivery & Business AlignmentTranslate business requirements into scalable technical solutionsSupport delivery of customer-facing digital productsAlign engineering efforts with customer experience and business goalsAI & Modern Development PracticesIdentify and implement AI use cases for developer productivity and customer experienceDrive adoption of CI/CD, test automation, and observability practicesDevOps & Platform Oversight Oversee CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesPartner with DevOps to improve deployment reliability and scalability.Required Qualifications10+ years software development experience with strong hands-on coding3+ years in a technical leadership roleExpertise in Java and Spring BootExperience with microservices and REST APIsStrong knowledge of NoSQL (CosmosDB, MongoDB) and JSONExperience with JavaScript/TypeScript frontend frameworksExperience with container technologies, preferably Kubernetes (AKS)CI/CD and DevOps practices with Git-based workflowsExperience building externally facing web applicationsStrong secure coding practicesPreferred QualificationsExperience in P&C insurance or financial servicesFamiliarity with AI/ML applied to business workflowsExperience scaling high-transaction systemsCore CompetenciesHands-on leadership and mentorshipStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to align business and technologyPragmatic and results-driven mindsetCommitment to innovation, quality, and continuous improvementADA: The above statements cover what are generally believed to be the principal and essential functions of this job.
