Materials Testing/Geotechnical Project Manager

We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our team focused on Delivering Solutions and Improving Lives.We are seeking an experienced Materials Testing / Geotechnical Project Manager to lead and oversee geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing (CMT) projects throughout the San Diego region. This role is responsible for managing project delivery, client relationships, field and laboratory operations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.The ideal candidate is a technically strong leader with proven project management experience in geotechnical engineering and materials testing, who thrives in a fast-paced consulting environment.ResponsibilitiesProject Management & DeliveryManage multiple geotechnical and construction materials testing projects from proposal through closeoutDevelop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plansEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirementsMonitor project financial performance, including budgets, invoices, and profitabilityTechnical Oversight* Provide technical guidance for field staff, engineers, and technicians* Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, Caltrans, local agency requirements)Construction Materials Testing (CMT)Direct materials testing operations including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate testingCoordinate field technicians and special inspectors on active job sitesEnsure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project specificationsClient & Business DevelopmentServe as the primary point of contact for clientsBuild and maintain strong client relationshipsSupport business development efforts, including proposal preparation and networkingIdentify new project opportunities within existing and prospective clientsTeam LeadershipMentor and supervise junior engineers, technicians, and project staffCoordinate cross-functional teams including field, lab, and administrative personnelPromote a safety-first culture and enforce company safety policiesQualifications5-10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering and/or construction materials testing and Special InspectionsProven experience managing projects and client relationshipsStrong knowledge of:Soil mechanics and foundation designEarthwork and grading practicesMaterials testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, Caltrans)* Experience overseeing field and laboratory testing operations* Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sitesPreferred:Certifications such as:ICC Special InspectorNICET (Construction Materials Testing)ACI (Concrete Field Testing Technician)* Experience working on Southern California projects and familiarity with local agencies* Background in both geotechnical engineering and CMT servicesThe pay range for this position in California is $80,000 to $110,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.All local employment laws apply.
