Buyer Purchasing Agent

Job Description JW Hicks is looking for a capable, motivated Purchasing Agent to add to our team at our Knox, IN, location (this is in person, not remote). This person will purchase materials and services, source and maintain contacts for procurement and delivery of needed products and services, maintain accurate records of all purchases and deliveries, and maintain inventory of items frequently used in production.Responsibilities and DutiesOrder materials and servicesManage purchasing information and systems.Track receipts and evaluate supplier delivery performance.Manage supplier relationships and service level agreements.Administer purchasing contracts.Monitor and manage raw material inventories.Work with other departments to forecast required purchases.Develop and maintain periodic reports as needed.Perform other duties to best help the teamRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceEffective interpersonal skills2-3 years' experience with above responsibilitiesBasic computer literacy and working knowledge of software programs commonly used in business.Ability and willingness to learnPreferred Qualifications:Strong organizational skillsERP experienceExperience with computer spreadsheets and databasesAwareness of packaging and transportation regulationsFamiliarity with OSHA industrial standardsFirst aid and CPR qualificationsCompany DescriptionFor over 40 years JW Hicks has been creating specialized refractory solutions for the primary metals industry.
