Department:09350 GCMG Infusion Operations: Administration - Pharmacy: AdministrationStatus:Full timeBenefits Eligible:YesHours Per Week:40Schedule Details/Additional Information:Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1600Pay Range$22.90 - $34.35Major ResponsibilitiesAssists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medicationsAccurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substancesAssists with medication distribution tasksScreens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquetteAssists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checkingComplete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances, where applicablePerform nonsterile compounding following proper USP standards, where applicablePerform sterile IV admixture, as defined at the entity level, using proper aseptic technique, where applicableInspects all assigned medication storage areas for adherence to storage policiesCompletes and documents medication admission histories, as applicable at the facility levelSeeks additional duties when required work is done and accepts other duties as assignedMay participate in quality improvement initiatives to assure the excellence of departmental servicesMay assist in training pharmacy technicians and extenders in orientation to the policies, procedures, and workflows involved in pharmacy operations as applicable at entity levelAbides by all organization policies and procedures and complies with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standardsSupports area leaders regarding goals and work assignmentsObtaining and recording initial patient demographic and other required information, data entry of required information into the pharmacy system for record keeping, insurance verification and label generation purposes, and cashieringDevelop competence in third-party billing functionsMust be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.May obtain immunization certification and perform immunizations for patients under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, where applicable Minimum Job Requirements EducationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent Certification / Registration / License Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirementsCertification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT). ExperienceTypically, 1 year of work experience in applicable work setting. Prior sterile compounding experience preferred. Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesAttention to detailsGood customer service, communication, organization, problem resolution and process development skillsBasic computer skillsLife support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion. Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsMust be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl and reach above shouldersRequires considerable walking, standing, pushing mobile cart of 50 pounds maximum and lifting 35 pounds of materialMust have functional vision, touch and hearingMust be able to speak and be understood by others to communicate effectivelyUtilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform job duties and minimize exposure to hazardous agents, body fluids, and communicable diseasesMay be exposed to chemical hazardsMay be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable diseaseFrequent fine motor motion of hands and wrists to perform manipulative skills such as writing, typing, data entry into the computer, and preparation of medications, including use of syringesTakes necessary precautions to avoid inadvertent needle sticks, minor cuts or bruises.
