DescriptionJob Title: English Language Arts Teacher-Sr HighPosition Function: Teaches and facilitates learning and maintains academic progress, discipline, and records for students at the high school grade level. Works with parents and students to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesInstructs through lectures, discussions and demonstrations in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, or social studiesEstablishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicate those objectives to studentsCollaborates and communicates with staff to meet the educational needs of studentsCreates, administers, and grades tests to evaluation student progressEstablishes and enforces rules and procedures which help to maintain order in the classroomObserves, evaluates, and prepares reports on the progress of students. Discusses students’ problems and progress with parents and staffParticipates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshopsPrepares classroom instructions to promote students’ success on state assessment examsObserves, enforces and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school districtAdditional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisorsEquipment: Must be able to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine.
